General info and comments
The Snakes And Ladders Scoring Board was announced by Hans im Glück as an April's Fool prank in 2024. The idea was to advertise a replacement for the standard scoreboard with the addition of some rules.
It was never released for sale, but it has become a fan article made from the images provided by the publisher.
Contents
- 1 Snakes And Ladders scoreboard
- It depicts several ladders and snakes that will change the position on scoring figures during a game:
- Ladders: 1 --> 27, 16 --> 34, 32 --> 42
- Snakes: 13 --> 6, 31 --> 22, 39 --> 11, 48 --> 26
Do you know the concept of the classic children's game "Snakes and Ladders"? If you get to the bottom of a ladder space, you can climb to the top - but don't finish a move on the head of a snake as you'll slide back down again!
You will now also find snakes and ladders on the new scoring board. These spaces are activated at the end of a move: This means more possibilities, greater unpredictability, more interactions and lots of fun with our game classic Carcassonne.
Rules
Preparation
Use the Snakes And Ladders Scoring Board instead of the normal scoreboard.
Gameplay
1. Placing a tile
Whenever you draw a tile, place it normally.
2. Placing a meeple
You may place a meeple according to the usual rules.
3. Scoring a feature
Scoring takes place as usual but the scoring meeples landing on certain spaces may change their position due to the snakes and the ladders on the scoreboard:
- If your scoring meeple moves to a space with the bottom of a ladder, it will move forward to the space at its top.
- If your scoring meeple moves to a space with the head of a snake, it will move backwards to the space with its tail.
