Buddo (Fan Expansion)

Buddo is a neutral Large Meeple controlled by an imaginary player.
General info
Buddo is a fan-expansion for
Carcassonne Base Game created by Carcassonne Central forum member MMike (CarcC).
Contents
- 1 game piece representing a Buddo, a figurine carved from whalebone dating to circa 2,900–2,400 BC.
Buddo functions as a Large Meeple, controlled by an imaginary player. Instead of placing one of their own meeples or special figures, any player may place Buddo from outside the game.
When Buddo scores a feature, no player receives points. Buddo is then returned to the side of the table.
Rules
Preparation
- Place Buddo to the side for now – it does not belong to any real player. It may be brought into play during the game.
Gameplay
Everybody wants Buddo
- If any rules make a player choose between 2 or more opponent meeples on the tiles or on the side, and Buddo can be chosen, they must choose Buddo.
- If Buddo ends up in a player supply, it goes automatically off to the side, or general supply
- If a Dragon has to move to a tile, and Buddo is in one of the adjacent tiles, the Dragon has to move on Buddo's tile. This stops the Dragon's movement. Flip a coin: if head, Buddo survives the chewing, put it on the side; if tail, Buddo is broken. Remove it from the game, it cannot be chosen or placed on a tile anymore.
1. Placing a tile
There are no tiles supplied with this expansion. Place a tile following the standard rules.
2. Placing Buddo
If Buddo on the general or in a player's supply, and not on any tiles, instead of placing one of your own meeples or special figures, you may place it from outside the game on the tile you just placed. Buddo follows the same placement rules as a Large Meeple.
3. Scoring a feature
When scoring a feature, Buddo counts as 2 meeples for majority, exactly as a Large Meeple would. However, Buddo does not belong to any player. If Buddo contributes to the majority or has the majority by itself, no player receives points for that feature, unless another expansion specifies otherwise.
After scoring, return Buddo to the side of the table. Return any meeples or special figures to their owners as usual.
