Castells i ponts
Informació general i comentaris

Castells i ponts was released by HiG for the third edition, known as C3.1 for short, in 2025. This edition includes more detailed graphics than previous versions and cities with clipped buildings.
It includes 16 land tiles, one of them a river tile. All in all, this expansion introduces the following new elements:
- Bridges, neutral figures that can be placed on tiles as road segments.
- Castle tiles, tokens placed on 2-tile cities to convert them into castles. They can be occupied by standard meeples to grant additional points.
- Barn tiles, tokens placed at field corners that grant additional points to farmers occupying them.
| Expansion background
This expansion is a revised version of Ponts, castells i basars released for the second edition, known as C2 for short, in 2017. And it was originally released for the first edition, known as C1 for short, in 2010. The original versions were somewhat different, including 12 land tiles (some with bazaars or inns, features not present in the new version), 12 castle tokens (surrounded by fields) and 12 bridges (brown instead of gray). No barn tokens were included. Bazaars allowed players to buy landscape tiles at auctions. Castle tokens and bridges had similar mechanics but with some differences. |

Each new game element is explained in relation to the 3 actions:
- 1. Col·locar una peça de territori
- 2. Posar un seguidor
1. Col·locar una peça de territori
Construir un pont
| As long as there are bridges available in the supply, an additional placement rule applies. This rule affects all land tiles that show only field on 2 opposite edges (without an open road, etc.): |
| You may place such a tile so that at least one of the 2 edges with field is adjacent to an open road. |
|
If you place a land tile like this, you must take 1 bridge from the supply and place it on that tile so that it connects to the road. The bridge continues the road like a straight road segment. |
| Accordingly, in a later turn you may continue that road by placing a land tile with a road so that it connects to the open end of the already placed bridge. |
Només hi pot haver 1 pont a cada peça. Els ponts no separen els camps.
| Important: Un camí pot contenir tants ponts com vulgueu. |
2. Posar un seguidor
| As usual, you may place a meeple on the tile you just placed, even if you placed a bridge on it in 1. Col·locar una peça de territori. You may also place a meeple on a feature below the bridge. Bridges do not stand in the way of other figures. |
| You may also place your meeples on bridges. Since a bridge is part of a road, the usual placement rules apply (e.g., the road that the bridge is part of must not be occupied). |
3. Puntuar un element
If one of your roads with at least 1 bridge is completed, you score 1 point per tile with a road segment as usual. However, for each bridge that is part of this road, you score 3 points instead. When scoring roads with bridges, majorities are determined as usual.

Important: If a completed road runs under one of its own bridges, you score 1 point for the tile with the road and 3 points for the bridge.

Puntuació final
If you score points for roads in the final scoring, each bridge scores only 1 point.
The castle
1. Col·locar una peça de territori
Construir un castell
|
As long as there are castle tiles available in the supply:
If you place a land tile that completes a city consisting of exactly 2 city segments, you may choose to build a castle. |
| Take a castle tile from the supply and place it on the completed city. If a standard meeple of any color is already in the city, move it onto the newly placed castle tile. It is no longer considered a knight but a maiden. |

- You complete a city consisting of 2 city segments and place a castle tile on it.
- Since there was already a standard meeple in the city, you place it on the castle.
You must not build a castle if there is a figure other than a standard meeple in the corresponding city (this might happen if you play with other expansions).
Important: If you build a castle, you do not score the city underneath.
2. Posar un seguidor
If you have built a castle in 1. Col·locar una peça de territori and there is no maiden on it yet, you may place a standard meeple as a maiden on that castle.
3. Puntuar un element
Puntuar una donzella
If you do not place a meeple during 2. Posar un seguidor and do not return your abbot instead, you may instead return 1 of your maidens from any castle of your choice to your supply.
You immediately go to 3. Puntuar un element of your turn and score 1 point per knight and per maiden in the playing area (regardless of their color).
You also score 1 point for the maiden you have taken back.
After that you score completed features etc. as usual.
Important: If in this turn you have turned a knight into a maiden by building a castle, you may not return this maiden to score it in the same turn.

Additionally, you score 1 point for the yellow maiden and each knight in the playing area. In total, you score 5 x 1 = 5 points.
Puntuació final
In the farmer scoring, you score 3 points for each city with a castle tile touching your field as usual.
Maidens don't score points at the end of the game. [1]
El graner
1. Col·locar una peça de territori
Construir un graner
| As long as there are still barn tiles in the supply, you may build a barn if you place a tile in such a way that the following conditions are met: |
- The placed tile must be one of exactly 4 tiles that touch at 4 corners.
- These 4 corners must show only fields, no cities, city walls, etc.
- The 4 field segments must be part of a field on which at least 1 of your farmers is present that has not been moved onto a barn yet (more on this later).
If all 3 conditions are met, you may take a barn tile from the supply and place it on the point where all 4 field corners touch.

Since you also have a farmer on this field, you may build a barn.
You take a barn tile from the supply and place it on the point where the 4 field corners touch.
After building a barn, you must immediately move 1 of your farmers from the same field onto the barn and score that barn in 3. Puntuar un element.
Farmers already lying on barns cannot be moved onto other barns. Each barn can only be scored once. Farmers on barns are still considered farmers.
There is no limit to the number of barns that can be built on a single field.
3. Puntuar un element
If you have built a barn in 1. Col·locar una peça de territori and moved a farmer onto it, you now score 1 point for each farmer (regardless of their color) in the playing area.
Farmers on barns count as farmers.
Then you resolve all other scoring as usual.

A meeple that is considered a traveler on a road is also considered a traveler on a bridge.
You may not place your large meeple on a castle as a maiden. When scoring your maiden, you score all knights in the playing area, including large meeple in cities.
If your large meeple was placed as a farmer, you may move it onto a barn.
Inns do not affect the value of bridges when scoring a road. (10/2025)
Pregunta: Is this road worth 9 points (6 points for the road tiles due to the inn plus 3 points for the bridge)? That is, the inn does not affect the number of points the bridge is worth.
Resposta: Yes, 9 points is correct as the inn only changes the score of each road segment from 1 point to 2. (1/2026)

Exp. 2 ‒ Comerciants i constructors
If you build a bridge that continues a road on which your builder is already present, you do trigger the builder.

When you move a farmer with an assigned pig onto the barn, you must return your pig to your supply.
The pig scoring considers cities with castles. (10/2025)
During a dragon movement, the dragon may move past bridges and remove meeple on bridges but it does not remove bridges.
You may place a bridge on a tile with a dragon hoard if the usual rules apply.

Castles or barns do not increase any tournament value.
>> Prize tiles and buildings
You must not remove a maiden as a consequence of an attack.
You may place a bridge on a tile with a circus site or acrobat site. Bridges do not stand in the way of other figures. If figures would physically collide, just place them in a way that they all fit on the land tile.
