Informació general i comentaris

Símbol de l'expansió

Tornejos i blasons was released by HiG for the third edition, known as C3.1 for short, in 2025. This edition includes more detailed graphics than previous versions and cities with clipped buildings.

It includes 9 land tiles, one of them a river tile, 12 prize tiles and a two-sided 2x3 tournament tile (with and without river). All in all, this expansion introduces the following new elements:

  • Tournament tile, a tableau that serves as a starting tile (with or without river).
  • A crown, a figure used to mark the next tournament type on the tournament tile.
  • Emblems, tokens to mark the meeples nominated for tournaments and awarded to the winners.
  • Prize tiles with statues, awarded to tournament winners and runner-ups. Winners mark these tiles with their emblem tokens to be scored at the end of the game.

Expansion background

This expansion is a revised version of El comte, el rei i el viatjant released for the second edition, known as C2 for short, in 2017. And it was originally released for the first edition, known as C1 for short, in 2008.

These original versions consisted in a bundle of mini expansions previously released separately in C1. All of their mechanics have been discarded in the new version:

  • El comte de Carcassonne, which included 12 tiles conforming a 3x4 starting tile tableau representing the city of Carcassonne and the figure of a count. This expansion allowed players to send meeples to Carcassonne and move them later to completed features to alter the majority right before scoring.
  • El riu II, which included 12 tiles and represented a river with a fork and two lakes. It could be used a s a replacement of the original River. River II had tie-ins to the original Exp. 1, 2 and 3 and has inspired the inclusion of river tiles (with tie-ins) in each new major expansion.
  • El rei i el viatjant, which included 5 land tiles with new configurations and 2 special tiles (and 4 additional tokens in C2). The special tiles helped keep track of the players who completed the largest road and the largest city in the game to grant them additional points during final scoring.
  • Heretges i santuaris (called The Cultists in C2), which included 5 tiles with cult places or shrines that could challenge monasteries.

Contingut

  • 9 land tiles (marked with to help you separate and sort your tiles), one of them with a river.
  • 12 prize tiles with a special back
  • 1 tournament tile (two-sided with/without river)

Preparació

Preparació addicional

Hand each player the set of 5 emblems in their color. Place your emblems face-down in front of you.

If you are playing with the mini-expansion El riu El riu, lay aside the tournament tile and shuffle the new river tile into the usual river tiles.

Otherwise, place the tournament tile instead of the starting tile in the middle of the table, with the side without the river facing up.

Shuffle all the prize tiles and lay them aside face down in a stack. Shuffle the rest of the new land tiles into the other land tiles.

Divide these land tiles evenly into a predetermined number of tile stacks depending on the number of players (see chart below) and arrange them in a fixed sequence. Any excess tiles that cannot be divided evenly are placed on top of the first stack. On top of each other stack place a predetermined number of random prize tiles face-down (see chart below). The remaining prize tiles form the last stack.

Place the crown on the predetermined starting space:

Number of players 2 3 4 5 6
Number of tile stacks 6 6 5 4 3
Prize tiles per stack 2 2 2 3 3
Crown starting space
Example 1: This is an example of how to set up the crown and the sequence of stacks in a game with 4 players (without the mini-expansion El riu). The 4 remaining prize tiles form a sixth stack.

The reason for dividing up the stacks in this manner is to ensure that you have enough turns to prepare for the next tournament.

Si s'afegeixen més expansions

Here you will find all the charts for setting up the game when not only Tornejos i blasons but additional expansions are added to the game as well.

The more land tiles are added to the game, the more stacks are formed. This ensures that each player has enough turns to prepare for the next tournament.

Below you will find charts for various land tile counts. Determine the number of tiles you are adding to the game and find the corresponding chart. [1] This will show you exactly how the game will be set up.

Each new game element is explained in relation to the 3 actions:

  • 1. Col·locar una peça de territori
  • 2. Posar un seguidor
  • 3. Puntuar un element

Si una acció no s'explica detalladament, s'apliquen les regles bàsiques.

The tournament tile

1. Col·locar una peça de territori

The tournament tile counts as 6 adjacent land tiles.

If you are playing without El riu, the tournament tile replaces the usual starting tile. If you are playing with El riu, it only comes into play as soon as the first river bend is drawn. Before you place the river bend, you must place the tournament tile with either open end continuing the river. Then place the river bend such that the river continues away from the tournament tile.
Example 2: You draw a river bend and therefore place the tournament tile. Then you place the bend so that the river continues outwards.
2. Posar un seguidor

You may not place meeples on the tournament tile.

Emblems

1. Col·locar una peça de territori
Nominating a meeple for the tournament

If during your turn, you place a tile so that it continues the feature of at least one of your travelers, knights or farmers*, you may nominate the corresponding meeple for the tournament. To do this, look at your emblems and place any one of them face down under that meeple so that no one but you knows the number.

Example 3: You continue the road of one of your travelers. You decide to nominate her and choose to place your emblem with the number 2 face down underneath.

*Important: When a tile with your farmer is directly and diagonally adjacent to 8 tiles before you place your tile, you cannot nominate her. However, if you place your tile as the 8th adjacent tile, you may still nominate her as usual.

When placing the tournament tile or a prize tile (see Statue and emblem), you may also nominate a meeple. However, you may only nominate 1 meeple per turn.

Majorities in features do not matter for nominations.

3. Puntuar un element

Whenever a nominated meeple is moved or removed (e.g. by scoring points), you must return its emblem to your supply.

Tournament and prize tiles

1. Col·locar una peça de territori
On your turn, you may only draw from the tile stack without prize tiles on top (i.e. from the first stack at the start of the game). If you cannot draw a tile because the current tile stack is empty, you must resolve a tournament immediately.
Example 4: In the previous turn the last land tile of the current stack was drawn. You cannot draw a new land tile because there is no stack without prize tiles. Therefore you must now resolve a tournament.

Resoldre un torneig

On the tournament tile there are spaces for the 3 tournament categories: the road tournament, the city tournament and the field tournament. Depending on which tournament space the crown is currently on, you must choose 1 of your earlier nominated travelers, knights or farmers standing on an emblem. Take that emblem and reveal it (leaving the meeple in place).

Then, proceeding clockwise, every other player must also reveal 1 emblem of one of their nominated meeple matching the current tournament category. If none of your meeples match, you are skipped and do not take part in this tournament. The number on your revealed emblem indicates your tournament value. This initial value increases depending on the tournament category that is currently indicated by the crown:

>> Torneig en un camí

Reveal the emblem of one of your nominated travelers on a road. Each land tile that is part of that road increases your tournament value by 1.
Example 5: The emblem of your chosen traveler gives you a tournament value of 3. The traveler‘s road is 2 tiles long and increases this value to 5 (3+2).

>> Torneig en una ciutat

Reveal the emblem of one of your nominated knights in a city. Each land tile that is part of that city increases your tournament value by 1.
Example 6: The emblem of your chosen knight gives you a tournament value of 1. The city where the knight stands consists of 3 tiles and increases this value to 4 (1+3).

>> Torneig en un camp

Reveal the emblem of one of your nominated farmers on a field. Each land tile directly and diagonally adjacent to this farmer increases your tournament value by 1. If there are exactly 8 tiles adjacent to your farmer the value additionally increases by 1 for each of the potential 16 land tiles surrounding these 8 tiles.
Example 7: You and Blue reveal the emblems of your chosen farmers. Your farmer is adjacent to 8 land tiles, with 2 more tiles surrounding those 8. This results in a total of 10 tiles. Each tile increases your tournament value by 1, giving you a total tournament value of 10 (0 for the emblem + 10). The total tournament value of Blue is 8 (3 for the emblem + 5 for the adjacent tiles).

Winning a prize

If you reached the highest or second-highest (or third-highest in a 5+ player game) tournament value, you draw 1 prize tile from the next tile stack in sequence. Place it face down in front of you. You draw the prize tiles starting with the player reaching the highest tournament value.

In case of a tie you draw in clockwise order starting with the active player. If there is a tie between more people than there are remaining prize tiles on the stack, none of the tied players draws a prize tile. Place the prize tiles that have not been drawn face down on top of the last stack (see Additional preparation).

If you reached the highest tournament value and are not tied for it, you also keep the emblem that you revealed to take part in the tournament and place it next to your prize tile. Return all other revealed emblems of that tournament to the box. If there is a tie for the highest tournament value, return all revealed emblems to the box.

Example 8: In a 4-player game, you have a tournament value of 9, Blue of 8 and Yellow of 3.
Black is not taking part. You and Blue each draw 1 prize tile. Blue and Yellow return their emblems to the box.
You are not tied with anyone for the highest tournament value, so you also keep your emblem. You place it next to your prize tile in front of you.

After resolving the tournament, move the crown clockwise to the next tournament space. A new tile stack is now free to draw from. Proceed with your turn as usual.

Statue and emblem

On your turn, you first draw a tile as usual and take a look at it. If you also have a prize tile in front of you, you must place the prize tile first. Each prize tile features a city with a statue. If you have kept your emblem when winning the prize tile, you must place that emblem (with the number face down) on the statue of that prize tile. It stays there for the rest of the game and scores you points at the end (see Final scoring).

Only after that, you place the newly drawn land tile and proceed as usual.

Example 9: Placing a prize tile:
  1. You have an emblem and a prize tile in front of you. First you draw a new land tile as usual and take a look at it.
  2. Then you place the prize tile and place the emblem on the statue in the city. After that you also place the newly drawn land tile and take your turn as usual.
2. Posar un seguidor

You may not place a meeple on a prize tile.

3. Puntuar un element
Puntuació final

Final Tournament

The last tournament is resolved as usual. The prize tiles won will be drawn from the last stack (see Additional preparation).

After resolving the final tournament, play continues in clockwise order (without drawing any more land tiles) until all the won prize tiles have been placed, including the potential emblem on the statue. If you didn’t win a prize tile, you are skipped. Then the game ends. Ignore remaining prize tiles.

Final scoring

First, remove all emblems that still have nominated meeple on them. For each of your emblems on a statue, you score 3 points per coat of arms in that city. It does not matter whether the city is completed or not.

Example 10: You have 1 emblem in a city with 4 coats of arms. For each coat of arms you score 3 points, so 4 x 3 = 12 points.
Blue has 2 emblems in the same city and therefore scores the coats of arms twice (once for each emblem), so 2 x 12 = 24 points.

Peces de territori especials

The road at the bottom separates the two field segments.

The field above the river is one connected segment.
The road on top ends in the middle of the field.

Resum ràpid

  1. Interpretació de la comunitat The number of tiles considered for each table does not include the base game, Exp. 6 ‒ Tornejos i blasons, river tiles or any other tiles to be set aside during setup.
