The Labyrinth Expansion
Entrances to an underground labyrinth have been discovered in Carcassonne. Hidden within are magical treasures that allow you to unlock and place additional tiles.
General info and comments

The Labyrinth Expansion was released as a set of rules by HiG for the third edition, known as C3 for short, in 2026. It is not a proper release but a mini expansion that uses some components of the Carcassonne Labyrinth game produced as a collaboration between Ravensburger and HiG in 2026 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Carcassonne.
The game belongs to the third edition, which includes more detailed graphics than previous editions and cities with clipped buildings.
This expansion is designed for 2-4 players.
Contents
From Carcassonne Labyrinth, you need the following components:
- 8 different treasure tokens
- 1 crown per player in their color
- 8 treasure tiles per player with backs in their color
- 8 random tiles per player
Rules
Preparation
Hand each player 1 crown and 8 treasure tiles in their chosen color. Shuffle your treasure tiles and place them in a face-down stack in front of you. These are your personal treasure tiles.
From the Carcassonne Labyrinth land tiles with light backs, take 8 random land tiles per player. Shuffle them and form 8 face-down stacks of equal height. Line them up next to the scoring board. Place 1 different treasure marker on top of each of these stacks.

The remaining components from Carcassonne Labyrinth are not needed for this game.
Gameplay
1. Placing a tile
Instead of drawing a land tile from the tile stacks as usual, you may draw the top tile from your personal treasure tiles. Proceed as usual.
Placing two tiles
If there is a tile in your crown at the start of your turn (more on this later), take it into your hand before drawing a tile. Then, as usual, draw a land tile or the top tile from your personal treasure tiles. Place both tiles in any order, connecting them to the existing landscape.
You may place the second of the two tiles adjacent to the first one, even if this would not have been possible before placing the first tile.

- At the start of your turn, there is one land tile in your crown.
- You pick it up and draw another tile from the tile stacks.
- Now you place both tiles in any order.
As usual, the game ends as soon as the last land tile has been drawn from the face-down stacks and the current turn has ended. After that, you may no longer place any of your treasure tiles either.
2. Placing a meeple
You may place a meeple as usual. If you placed 2 land tiles during 1. Placing a tile, you may only place a meeple on the tile you placed second.
3. Scoring a feature
Score as usual. If you placed 2 land tiles during 1. Placing a tile, you now score all features completed by them.
Scoring roads with coats of arms
If you score points for a completed road, you score 2 additional points for each coat of arms next to that road.
Important: Roads end in forests.

Scoring features with treasures
If a player has completed a feature with at least 1 treasure, score that feature as usual. If you score points, take the top tile from the stack with the corresponding treasure token. Place it in your crown so that only you can see it.
If the completed feature depicts more than one treasure, you must choose one. For each other treasure, you additionally score 2 points.
It does not matter who completed the feature.

If multiple players score points for a feature, you resolve the scoring in clockwise order, starting with the active player. If there is already a tile in your crown, you do not take a new tile. Instead, you score 2 additional points. You also score 2 points for a treasure if you cannot take a tile because the corresponding stack is empty.
Special case: If the same treasure appears multiple times in a completed feature, each symbol still counts as a separate treasure.

Final Scoring
During the final scoring, you score 1 point for each of your remaining personal treasure tiles. If there is still a tile in your crown, you also score 1 point for it. You also score 1 point for each coat of arms or treasure in your uncompleted roads or cities.
