The Flying Machines got a powerful upgrade!

General info

The Whirling Flying Machine is a fan-expansion for Carcassonne Base Game Carcassonne Base Game created by Carcassonne Central forum member MMike (CarcC), based on The Flying Machines The Flying Machines expansion.

Contents

  • 6 Whirling Flying Machines double-sided tokens
  • 1 standard 6 sided die (sides from 1 to 6)

Rules

Preparation

  • 6 or less players: distribute the tokens equally among the players, place any leftover randomly on the scoreboard
  • More than 6 players: place the tokens randomly on the scoreboard

Gameplay

1. Placing a tile

There are no tiles supplied with this expansion. When a player draws and places a tile with a field, and own at least a token, they can place one token on a field of the placed tile, pointing the direction where they want to fly.

2. Placing a meeple

You may place a meeple following all rules from the official The Flying Machines The Flying Machines expansion, with the differences explained below.

The new Whirling Flying Machines are:

  • faster: these machines use a standard d6 die, meaning they can travel up to 6 tiles
  • lighter: after flying, they can be reused (if they didn't crash)
  • not stronger: after flying a following the standard meeple placement rules, roll again the die:
    • odd result: CRASH! the machine is broken. Put the token out of the game with the broken side up.
    • even result: Perfect landing, the machine survived! Place the token on the scoreboard next to the meeple marking your points.
3. Scoring a feature

If the tile with the aircraft symbol completes a feature after placing the tile, the feature is scored as usual.

After counting your total points at the end of your turn, if your meeple on the scoreboard ends on a slot with one or more flying machine tokens, take 1 token.

Final Scoring

At the end of the game, normal scoring for incomplete features applies.
