Informació general i comentaris

Expansion symbol

Comerciants i constructors was updated and re-released by HiG for the third edition, known as C3.1 for short, in 2025. This edition includes more detailed graphics than previous versions and cities with clipped buildings.

This expansion includes 24 tiles, and one of them is a river tile. It also introduces the following new elements:

  • Goods tokens: chickens, grain and cloth, collected when completing cities and scored at the end of the game.
  • Builders, a special figure that grants double turns
  • Pigs, a special figure that provides additional points

Expansion background

This expansion differs from the third edition version, known as C3 for short, only released as part of Big Box 7 Big Box 7 in 2021. This version also featured more detailed graphics than previous editions and cities with clipped buildings.

This expansion was previously released by Hans im Glück for the second edition, known as C2 for short, in 2015. And it was originally released for the first edition, known as C1 for short, in 2003.

These original versions also included 24 tiles, but no river tile. Regarding goods, chickens were previously barrels of wine. They also featured the pig and the builder but with different mechanics. The boxed versions of this expansion also included a drawstring cloth bag to draw tiles (Big Boxes did not include the bag).

Contingut

  • 24 land tiles (marked with to help you separate and sort your tiles) including 19 with a goods symbol and 1 with river and a goods symbol.

Preparació

Preparació addicional

Hand each player the pig and the builder in their color.

Place the goods tokens next to the playing area as a general supply.

If you are playing with the mini-expansion El riu El riu, shuffle the new river tile into the usual river tiles.

Shuffle the rest of the new land tiles into the other land tiles.

Each new game element is explained in relation to the 3 actions:

  • 1. Col·locar una peça de territori
  • 2. Posar un seguidor
  • 3. Puntuar un element

Si una acció no s'explica detalladament, s'apliquen les regles bàsiques.

The goods tokens

3. Puntuar un element
Scoring a city with goods symbols

If you complete a city that shows one or more goods symbols, first you score the city as usual. Then for each goods symbol shown in that city you receive 1 corresponding goods token. Take them from the general supply and place them face up in front of you so that the other players can see them. [1]

You always receive the goods tokens. It does not matter if you have a knight in the city or if there are no knights in the city at all. So, it does not matter if you or anyone else has scored points for this city. You are trading in this city. [2]

Example 1: You have completed the city. Blue scores 10 points for the city as usual. Only you receive 1 chicken token and 2 grain tokens, as you have completed the city.
Puntuació final

Scoring goods tokens

You score the goods tokens in the final scoring.

For each type (chicken, grain or cloth), if you have collected the most goods of that type, you score 10 points.

In case of a tie, all tied players score 10 points for that type.

Example 2: Example in a 2-player game: You score 20 points and Blue also scores 20 points.

The builder

2. Posar un seguidor
If you place a meeple as a traveler on a road or as a knight in a city, and the builder is in your supply, you may assign the builder to this meeple. Place the builder close to the meeple.

A builder must never stand alone. As soon as a meeple with an assigned builder is moved or removed (e.g. by scoring a completed feature), you must return this builder to the supply.

Example 3: The builder can only be placed along with a traveler or a knight. In this example, you place her on the road with a traveler.
1. Col·locar una peça de territori

If, in one of your later turns, you place a tile in a way that it continues a road or city on which your builder is already present, put the builder next to the face-down tile stacks (this will be important later on).

As long as your builder is next to the tile stacks, she is not in your supply and cannot be placed on the game board.

Example 4: You place a tile and continue a road on which your builder is already present. You remove her and put her next to the tile stacks. Your meeple stays on the road.

Note: You must put your builder next to the tile stacks, even if you continue her feature and complete it at the same time.

Performing a double turn

If your builder is next to the face-down tile stacks at the end of your turn, you immediately gain another turn. Take your builder back into your supply and perform a second turn. After that, players continue taking their turns in clockwise order.

Example 5:
  1. At the end of your turn, your builder stands next to the tile stacks. So you return her to your supply and you gain another turn.
  2. You place a tile and place your builder again along with one of your meeples.
  3. The builder doesn’t trigger another double turn. Your turn is over.

Caution: You never trigger a double turn by placing your builder. You only trigger a double turn if you continued a feature with your builder already on it.

3. Puntuar un element

If a builder is involved in any scoring, you score as usual. The builder does not affect the scoring.

When determining majorities, the builder is not counted (she has a strength of 0).

After scoring, take the builder along with the meeple back into your supply.

The pig

2. Posar un seguidor
If you place a farmer in a field and the pig is in your supply, you may assign the pig to this farmer. Place the pig closely next to the farmer.

A pig must never stand alone. As soon as a meeple with an assigned pig is moved or removed (which is possible with other expansions), you must return this pig to the supply.

Example 6: The pig can only be placed along with a farmer.
3. Puntuar un element

After completing and scoring a city that shows at least 1 coat of arms anywhere on the game board (it does not have to be occupied), a scoring of all pigs is triggered.

You immediately score 3 points for each completed city touching the field with your pig. The number of farmers and their majority do not matter for the pig scoring.

Example 7a: Previously, a city with a coat of arms was completed. Now all pigs are scored as well.
The field with your pig touches 1 completed city. You score 1 x 3 points.
The field with the blue pig and yellow pig also touches 1 completed city. Both players score 3 points each.

First, score the pig of the active player, then proceed clockwise. After scoring your pig, return it to your supply. At the same time, you may decide to take the farmer that the pig is assigned to back into your supply as well. [3]

Example 7b: You are the active player, so you are the first to score your pig and return it to your supply. Along with that you may decide to return your farmer as well. You decide to keep the farmer in the field.
Blue is next in clockwise order and only returns the pig, too.
Yellow is last in line and decides to return the farmer along with the pig.
Puntuació final

In the final scoring, the pig does not score any points.

It also does not count towards majorities of farmers in the field (it has a strength of 0).

Peces de territori especials

Bridges do not close roads. One road runs uninterrupted from left to right, the other uninterrupted from top to bottom.

Fields do not connect under bridges but are separated by them. There are 4 separate fields on the tile.

This tile closes the road in the middle of the field.

Access to the outhouse is reserved for the people of Carcassonne.

One road ends in the middle of the field, the other road ends in the monastery. The whole field is connected.
