  • Note:
    • (1) There was no explicit mention in rules. It was assumed that triangular tiles on the same space were considered counted as 1 tile as an adaptation of the scoring rules for monasteries. This may be the result of a misinterpretation.
    • (2) Double-sized tiles were released a year later so no provision for double-sized tiles is made in the rules from 2014.
    • (3) Not covered in the rules, but aligned with the interpretation of the rules from 2020 and the clarifications from 10/2015.
    • (4) Triangular tiles and double-sized tiles were counted as individual tiles for monasteries.
    • (5) Not covered in the rules, but change consistent with monastery scoring by occupied space from 2020. It would override the clarifications provided in 10/2015.
    • (6) Exception for C2 only: Roads in Leipzig tiles are counted as 1 tile even is spread across two spaces.

  1. Interpretation from the Community The ZMG rules of the base game mention the "first player" without explaining how it is decided. However, the Big Box 6 rules are re-aligned with the HiG rules and indicate the first player is the youngest one.
  2. 2.0 2.1 2.2 2.3 2.4 2.5 Interpretation from the Community The second part of the double turn happens in step 4B, after step 4A. See Order of Play.
  3. 3.00 3.01 3.02 3.03 3.04 3.05 3.06 3.07 3.08 3.09 3.10 3.11 3.12 3.13 3.14 3.15 3.16 3.17 3.18 3.19 3.20 3.21 3.22 3.23 3.24 3.25 3.26 3.27 3.28 3.29 3.30 3.31 Interpretation from the Community Expansion not available in this edition for the time being.
  4. Official clarification from the publisher As noted in the rules, a player may deploy a barn, play a tower piece, or place a follower on the Wheel of Fortune.
  5. Interpretation from the Community It seems a mistranslation by RGG of the original HiG rules. Big Box 3 written rules indicate the dragon moves after scoring but the turn sequence summary instructs to move the dragon before scoring. The written rules have been considered to have precedence in this matter.
  6. Interpretation from the Community A misinterpretation concluded the dragon moves after placing the tile.
  7. Official clarification from the publisher No extra round to place remaining abbeys as clarified in FAQ.
  8. 8.0 8.1 Official clarification from the publisher Extra round to place remaining abbeys added in Big Box 2 and Big Box 3.
  9. 9.0 9.1 Official clarification from the publisher No extra round to place remaining abbeys in C2 as clarified by HiG. (2/2021)
  10. Interpretation from the Community This discrepancy may be the result of a mistranslation by ZMG of the original HiG rules.
  11. 11.0 11.1 Interpretation from the Community The discrepancy may be caused by a mistranslation by RGG.
  12. 12.0 12.1 Official clarification from the publisher An official clarification reverted the rules stated in Big Box 3 that allowed the fairy to be placed by a follower/meeple on a castle. The reason stated is that the fairy has to be placed on a tile.
  13. 13.0 13.1 The additional rounds of scoring were the result of two clarifications provided in 5/2014 and 10/2014.
  14. 14.0 14.1 14.2 14.3 The clarifications about rounds of scoring provided in 5/2014 and 10/2014 were declared void for the New Edition.
  15. 15.0 15.1 15.2 15.3 15.4 Interpretation from the Community The discrepancies in the Big Box 6 rules can be due to a mistranslation by ZMG of the original HiG rules.
  16. 16.0 16.1 16.2 16.3 Interpretation from the Community The discrepancies in the Big Box 7 rules can be due to a mistranslation by ZMG of the original HiG rules.
  17. 17.0 17.1 17.2 17.3 17.4 17.5 17.6 Interpretation from the Community ZMG mistranslated the rules for the boxed version and kept the same version in Big Box 4, Big Box 6 and Big Box 7.
