Preparation

The Black Fairy is a neutral figure that belongs to no player. It begins the game in the supply.

Gameplay

Figure Black Fairy.png
1. Placing a tile

Tiles with a King's or a Queen's gates are played with normal placement rules. When the two King’s Gate tiles or two Queen's Gate tiles are placed in different cities, this cities are considered to be the same city. If both related tiles are played in the same city, there is no effect.

2. Placing a meeple

You may deploy a meeple to any part of the tile (city, road, or farm) according to usual rules. A meeple may not be deployed to the portal itself. All meeples placed in both cities containing the King’s Gate or Queen's Gate are counted together when determining who has the most knights in the city.

3. Scoring a feature

No scoring takes place until both cities containing the King’s Gate or Queen's Gate tiles are completed.

Final Scoring

When the two tiles containing the King’s Gate are placed in separate cities, both cities are treated and scored as if they were the same city. All followers placed in both cities are counted together to calculate the majority. When either King’s Gate tile is placed in a city, that city is not complete until the city containing the other tile is also complete.

General rules

Official clarification from the publisher All tile features that effect scoring for either city effect the total combined score for both cities/each separated parts.

Official clarification from the publisher Every separated parts for the city connected by gateways are considered as unfinished city for other expansions.

Official clarification from the publisher A city with separated parts connected by gataways are counted still as 1 city.

Tile Distribution

The expansion consists of a tile of the Sagrada Familia. When it appears in the game, it must be played normally by placing it where the player wants. From that moment on, the city expanded with the Sagrada Familia tile cannot be closed during the entire game, but it can be expanded with more city tiles as long as they never close the city with the Sagrada Familia.

Exception 1: If placing the Sagrada Familia tile causes the closure of a city, that city will score 0 points and the meeples will return to the corresponding players.

Exception 2: If the Sagrada Familia tile cannot be placed anywhere on the board validly, this tile is returned to the box and will not re-enter the game during this match. The player on turn draws another tile from the stack to execute their turn normally.

At the end of the game, the city with the Sagrada Familia tile will count as an incomplete city following the usual scoring rules.

If any other tile drawn during the game can only be placed in the city with the Sagrada Familia tile, closing it, this tile is removed from the game and the player on turn draws another tile to execute their turn normally.

Variant: In this variant, the city containing the Sagrada Familia tile can be closed normally but in this case, it will score 0 points and the meeples will remain blocked until the end of the game. Therefore, be careful not to close the city if you have meeples inside and try to make it as large as possible to avoid it.
