General info and comments
Fan expansion released for the Carcassonne meetup in 2024. It provides a new take on the castles from Exp. 8 - Bridges, Castles & Bazaars.
Contents
- 6 new land tiles featuring a castle on a road for the First Edition (C1) and the Second Edition (C2). Some of them have gates conected to the road, some others have a dirt path connecting them to the road.
Rules
Preparation
Shuffle the new tiles with the others of the game.
Gameplay
1. Placing a tile
When you draw a tile with a castle on a road, you place it according to the usual rules.
2. Placing a meeple
When you place a tile with a castle on a road, you may place a meeple on it according to the usual rules, and also on the castle.
3. Scoring a feature
The castle on a road will behave in a similar manner to those castles of Exp. 8 - Bridges, Castles & Bazaars with the following differences:
- The castle fief is defined by the tiles of the road passing by the castle.
- The castle lord is not protected as if placed on a castle token.
Therefore, a castle on a road will score the same points as the road is worth when completed, or the same points as any completed feature on the tiles of the road. Whatever feature is completed first. If several features are completed on the same turn, the castle lord's owner will decide which feature to score points for.
Note:
- As usual, a castle on a road cannot score points on the same turn that it is placed. Any feature completed on the same turn in which the castle is placed will be ignored by the castle.
Final Scoring
At the end of the game, you will remove any castle lords on the board. Castles will not score points after the game.
As usual, a castle on a road will be worth 4 points when scoring a field.
