Cleric and Serf expands on King and Robber Baron and introduces new rewards for players who score the most cloisters, or the most farmers when placing a barn.
General info
The Cleric & Serf fan-expansion for Carcassonne Base Game was released by Carcassonne Central member Novelty (CarcC), with assistance by Scott (CarcC) and based upon an original idea by Christoph Berger. It is analogous to the mini-expansion King and Robber Baron, and it is recommended, though not required, that you play the two expansions together.

Contents
- 10 new land tiles
- 14 cloister tokens
- 1 cleric tile
- 1 serf tile
Required expansions
The Serf is designed to play with the Barn from Exp. 5 - Abbey & Mayor, but it can also be played without it using the No Barn Variant
The Cleric doesn't require any other expansions to play.
Rules
Preparation
- Shuffle the new land tiles together with the land tiles of the basic game.
- Place the cleric and serf tiles, as well as the cloister tokens, next to the scoring track.
Gameplay
1. Placing a tile
Whenever you draw a tile, place it normally.
2. Placing a meeple
You may place a meeple according to the usual rules.
3. Scoring a feature
The Cleric
As soon as a player scores the first cloister, he or she should take the Cleric tile. If, during the course of play, another player scores more cloisters, then that player receives the Cleric tile.
Cloister tokens
The player that completes a cloister or a abbey but not score it receives a cloister token, provided that there is still a spare cloister token in the supply. [1]
The Serf - Barn variant
As soon as a player scores the placed barn during the game, he or she should take the Serf tile. Note the total number of farmers that are removed when the barn is placed. If, during the course of play, another barn is placed which removes more farmers than when a barn was previously placed, the player who played the barn takes the serf tile.
The Serf - No Barn variant
If you are not playing with the Abbey & Mayor expansion, the first player to place a farmer should take the Serf tile. If, during the course of play, another player establishes a larger farm (according to the number of cities and castles on that farm) then he or she receives the Serf tile.
Final Scoring
The Cleric
At the end of the game, the player holding the Cleric Tile scores 10 points. The player holding the Cleric tile also scores 2 points for every abbey played.
Cloister tokens
The player who has collected the most Cloister tokens scores 10 points. As usual, in the case of a tie all players involved score the full 10 points, unless one of the players involved is holding the Cleric tile, in which case, the player with the Cleric tile gets 10 points and other player 0 points.
The Serf
At the end of the game, before the farms are scored, the player holding the Serf tile scores 1 point for every farmer [2] remaining in the game and 5 points for every barn that has been played.
New land tiles
The new Land tiles are played like those in the base game.
